P3 has signed the Miscarriage Association’s Pregnancy Loss Pledge to support colleagues who have lost their baby.

We understand you’ll need time off work to recover both physically and mentally, and that everyone will have their own way of grieving. We have a full policy offering guidance, including ways to support a colleague if she happens to experience a loss while at work.

If you have a miscarriage, you can take up to four weeks off on full pay – more than the statutory minimum – because we want you to have the time you need to recover.

And if your partner miscarries, you can take up to five days off as compassionate leave.

There’s more. Because we understand the loss of a baby is a difficult and traumatic time, if you have a stillbirth or neo-natal loss, statutory maternity leave and pay will still apply and P3 will give you full pay for the first four weeks, not just the statutory 90 per cent. Partners are entitled to two weeks of statutory paternity/parental leave, which P3 will also pay at your full amount. There are also two additional weeks of statutory parental bereavement leave.

Alison Goes Green

Alison Marjoram, our Head of Development at Navigator Yiewsley, is a WISE woman indeed. Watch out for her in the next webinar by Women In Social Enterprise, all about how social enterprises can be environmentally friendly. She’ll talk about the lessons P3 has learned during its increasing focus in recent years on staying green while still supporting the people we work alongside. There’ll be other speakers too.

Action in Halton

P3 might become one of the Mayor of Halton’s chosen charities in the future. Peripatetic Support Worker Joanne Collins met the Mayor and Mayoress at a recent event, where they were very interested to hear about P3’s work and asked to be kept informed in the future. She also spoke to members of St John’s Ambulance, who will now come to give a talk for families and young people, including information about how the young people could become cadets. Almost 200 people at the event went away with information and goodies about P3.

Christmas Appeals

There’ll be Christmas gifts aplenty this year for people P3 works alongside thanks to generous shoebox and gift bag appeals.

Credit firm Capital One has named P3 as one of its charities to support this Christmas after P3 Rents Administrator Ginny Buckman made use of her contacts there. It will be gathering boxes and gift bags full of clothes, toiletries and sweets for people in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. Plus, students at Selsden High School, which Ginny’s daughter attends, are also making up boxes and gift bags.

Elsewhere, property and infrastructure company the Mace Group is also holding a shoebox and gift bag appeal for people we work alongside in Hillingdon. Led by staff member Ev Johnson, who has already organised beauty pamper days and Christmas hampers, Mace is collecting gift boxes and also supporting a raffle and sponsored bike ride in Spain to raise funds for P3. Mace has agreed to match whatever is raised, so any donation you make will be worth double!

Community Matters in Cirencester

The Cotswolds team did brilliant community work at a cost-of-living event in Cirencester.

A Word of Thanks

Bill (name changed) at Cheltenham wanted to give special thanks to Service Coordinator Darren Fury, Link Worker Laura Cotes-Patel and the wider P3 team for the support he has received to maintain his home and get his life back on track.

“I just wanted to say thank you for helping me,” he wrote. “I know I can be a bit of a pain at times.

“I could never be more thankful to P3. You guys have helped me massively. I’ve never been more thankful for you putting me in my flat. It’s the longest I’ve ever been situated. Huge thanks.

“And Darren, I know that you are the manager and being a support worker isn’t your actual job. So I just want to say thank you and show my appreciation for your support. You’re amazing helping me, considering you have a whole business to run. And Laura, you’re amazing too because you’ve always made time for me, and you’re Gloucester-based as well.”
