Happy 10th Birthday, Gloucester!

We’re really pleased to bring you all the news and updates from Gloucestershire this week in the P3 blog.

Community Based Services: Stuart Allen

Well, this is quite a big year for us –  P3 Gloucestershire’s tenth anniversary! We received our current community-based support (CBS) contract on 3 June 2013 and it’s been extended multiple times since then, because, to put it frankly, we do a bloody good job! We’re a strong, close-knit team and we really, really care about the people we work alongside – we’ll do all we possibly can to support them. We really do change lives!

Actually, some of us have been working together for 17 years! We were with the housing association who previously provided the floating support service in Gloucestershire and then transferred across to P3 in 2013 … So, what do we do exactly?

So, P3 Gloucester has been here for ten years … and I’ve been here all that time and more!

Always extremely serious

There are never any easy or simple answers when it comes to supporting people from the streets to independent living. People and their issues are complicated, so we try to work with them on them for the best possible outcome.

A lot has changed in ten years, as it should! In fact, Streetlink, the service that enables the public to connect people sleeping on the streets to local support services, has also turned ten last year.

Safe Spaces: Rebecca Craig

Safe Spaces was part of the Government’s programme to support people who had experienced rough sleeping in 2018. It was piloted in eleven schemes within the country, all called ‘Safe Spaces’ or ‘Somewhere Safe to Stay’. We’re the first port of call for anyone who finds themselves rough sleeping: the outreach team finds people and sends them to us for assessment. In 90 per cent of cases, people are entirely suitable for our services. They’ll stay here while we assess their needs and look for suitable long-term accommodation.

Accommodation Based Assessment: Michelle Wells and Darren Fury

Donna had moved on from the Gloucester assessment services – but she had been so happy there, she wanted to stay connected! So a party was held for her 60th birthday. After all, people may move on – but they’re always welcome to visit!

Darren Fury and Michelle Wells are the Service Coordinators of the Accommodation-Based Assessment Centres – Darren for Gloucester and Michelle for Cheltenham. These centres include accommodation spaces and are part of the housing pathway for people from street homelessness to independent living.

See below to hear what they have to say!

We'd like to hear what you think!

The team at the Yiewsley Navigator hosted a Wellbeing Workshop for the young people they work alongside. They made healthy smoothies (which went down a treat) and decorated boxes with positive affirmations inside. 😄

THANKS TO…

A shout out to Wellbeing Worker, Anita Middleton from the BeWell Derbyshire team who spent 3 hours helping someone the team works alongside to declutter their home. Well done Anita! 🥳
