Thank you so much to everyone who came to the P3 Conference last Friday, and especially our brilliant volunteers who prepared and cleared the room, registered people, ushered and generally did everything to make sure the day ran smoothly.
It was a special day indeed, marking our first in-person Conference for three years so we had a lot of catching up to do – and do it we did!
We mingled, reminded ourselves what people look like in reality and not just on Teams and enjoyed a good lunch. We were all coming together for Mark’s keynote address, a recap of the last three years and, of course, the P3 People Awards. Congratulations to everyone who was nominated, highly commended or a winner. With so many nominations for so many amazing people, we’re certain the decisions really were almost impossible to make!
Two awards that marked exceptional people were the CEO Award for Harjinder “Nick” Bagurd, who risked his own life to save 15 other people’s during a fire at Dickens Lodge in Wolverhampton, and the Lifetime Achievement Award for Jo Summers, whose exceptional leadership has driven success across P3 services, changing lives and transforming entire communities. See more below.
We then finished off with a P3-based quiz (“Family Feuds”), compared by our very own Matt Gasside with lots of laughter, quality prizes and just a little friendly competition. And, of course, a memorable country dance performance from the Maintenance team. Yee-ha!
After that, it was time to get changed into, well, whatever we wanted 😊
Our evening celebrations ‘Be Your Unique You’, saw everything from black tie suits to 1940s dresses to good old blue jeans. We even had three lions, complete with face painted flags and proper, full-on manes. Most fitting, as England played the USA over dinner. It’s coming home!
But that wasn’t all! Once we’d had our drinks reception and three-course dinner, it was time to dance the night away and take a few silly pictures in the photo booths as well, obviously!!
So, how did it all look? Well, scroll on for some snaps from the day and the night – be sure to share yours on Workplace!
And now the countdown begins to Conference 2023….

Our wonderful Amy Winter won the Rising Star Award.
Above and Beyond Award winner Mel Leicester.
The CEO Award is a new award recognising outstanding service to P3, and this colleague deserves to be recognised and applauded for his bravery. Harjinder “Nick” Bajurd won the CEO Award for risking his own life to save 15 people we work alongside when there was a fire inside Dickens Lodge. Thank you for being a literal lifesaver, Nick. P3 is forever grateful.
And the special Lifetime Achievement Award was given out to none other than Jo Summers!
There are not enough words to express the impact Jo has delivered for P3, her legacy and the values she both lives and breathes will inspire P3 for years to come. Thank you, Jo.
Matt Gasside hosted a Family Fortunes style quiz for us all to enjoy! Who are your Executive Leadership Team? What values make P3 unique? ‘Hilarious’ and ‘Knows how to throw a good party’ should’ve been up there along with all the rest!
And Mark was his glamorous assistant, handing out some very desirable prizes! We want the Lurpack!!!
Our fantastic Maintenance team blew us away with their performance of Nessa and Bryn’s Islands in the Stream from Gavin and Stacey, to end our daytime awards ceremony. Way to go guys!
It’s coming home!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the night do 😃
It was with deep sadness that we paid tribute to Lorraine Johnstone at Conference. Lorraine died aged 66, after losing her battle against cancer. A Support Worker at Navigator Cheltenham, Lorraine spent 20 years working with people experiencing homelessness improving the lives of people going through a tough time.
Matt Gasside, P3’s head of support and community services at Cheltenham, shared this tribute to Lorraine, who touched so many lives:
“Lorraine was a real one-off, an absolute diamond who really went the extra mile for the people she supported. She will be very sadly missed, and l really hope her family can take some comfort from the amount of lives she has improved for the better.
“In September Lorraine achieved 20 years continual service between CCP and P3, supporting those who are experiencing homelessness. She preferred to work with people who have experienced the most disadvantage and had a really special gift of being able to reach those who are most difficult to engage.
“Her down to earth, respectful but ‘no messing’ approach has led to lots of really amazing outcomes for the people she helped. Lorraine was genuine and this shone through. Sleep well Lorraine.”
We raise a glass to Lorraine, we are honoured to have had you as our colleague.
Our deepest condolences go to Lorraine’s family and friends.
Hey, you! You with the good news, or the great accomplishment, or the landmark birthday …
