Would you like people going through your cupboards and drawers?
No … I expect you wouldn’t. It’s very understandable. There might be things in there that you’d be embarrassed to have people see. But even if not, they’re still your personal belongings and you don’t want someone else going through them.
And that’s part of the difficulty faced by people who hoard.

It all started in October 2020.
P3 Buckinghamshire had received a one-year Nationwide Community Grant and that was what enabled us to begin providing support for hoarding. And the service was clearly needed – we got 37 referrals in no time at all.

The job title Home Coach was my idea! Fiona had asked for suggestions of what we might call people in this role and I was trying to think of something positive. Even the words “hoard” or “hoarding” sound tedious and negative. But coaching is about empowering people and bringing out their strengths, and of course it’s all about them having the power to improve their homes.
SHOUT OUTS OF THE WEEK
Hey, you! You with the good news, the great achievement or the landmark birthday …
Massive congratulations to Jen Baker who has been appointed the new Head of Support and Community services for Coventry and Warwickshire! Go do amazing things Jen!⭐
The team at the Yiewsley Navigator hosted a Wellbeing Workshop for the young people they work alongside. They made healthy smoothies (which went down a treat) and decorated boxes with positive affirmations inside. 😄
A shout out to Wellbeing Worker, Anita Middleton from the BeWell Derbyshire team who spent 3 hours helping someone the team works alongside to declutter their home. Well done Anita! 🥳
